Paddington Garden Design

The client of this apartment in Paddington was keen to create a space that was 'Fun and Funky', the brighter the better. As part of the roof terrace design we used Astro Turf, Hardwood Eco deck, bespoke planters spray coated in Fuschia pink and timber trellis that was stained in Sadolin opaque turquoise.

The Eco deck is a modular system of decking that is easy to put down using an interlocking system, and very popular with designers on roof terraces. It is particularly useful, like in this Paddington Garden, where there is not enough room to construct bearers as part of a traditional decking system.

The built in seating area has lift up lids to provide storage space, the cushions have all been made specifically to fit. There is also a small shade sail to provide some respite from the intense glare of the sun in paddington. Narrow strips of Caledonian pebbles neaten up all the edges and provide a good hiding space for lighting cables.

Planting is very low maintenance with a few Phormiums, Bamboo for screening and my favourite grass Anemanthele Lessoniana (Pheasants Tail Grass). The end result certainly brightens up the previously very dark brickwork and makes the space seem so much bigger.
